Jane Forsberg Psychology aims to assist children, teenagers and adults to formulate and action change to improve their quality of life. Life consists of ups and downs, whether it be learning/work difficulties, social/emotional challenges, or relationship struggles. Jane can assist you navigate these and help you live life to your potential. The goal is to empower clients by teaching strategies that will assist management of concerns, learn skills to cope with the future and live a fulfilled and happy life. Jane offers a professional service that is warm, friendly and affordable.
Jane is a registered Psychologist who completed a Bachelor of Psychology at the University of Western Australia and a Diploma in Education at Claremont Teachers College. Jane's background is in School Psychology, having worked in both the Government and Non-Government systems. She also worked for 16 years at a Co-Educational High School as a School Psychologist. At the same time, Jane began working in Private Practice, providing assessments and counselling for children, teenagers and adults. Jane has extensive experience in the areas of learning difficulties, ADHD, challenging behaviours, emotional regulation, stress management and relationship difficulties. Jane utilises evidence-based approaches to her assessment and therapy and is committed to helping people of all ages reach their potential, develop their confidence, learn strategies to cope with life stressors and empower to live a positive and meaningful life.
About Jane
Psychological and educational assessments are provided for children and teenagers, to ascertain their levels of functioning and their strengths and weaknesses in learning. This may include identification of Intellectual Disabilities, Learning Difficulties, Gifted and ADD/ADHD. An initial appointment can be made to gather background information, collect previous assessment details/reports and clarify what is involved. Alternatively, this information can be obtained in a telephone consult. A meeting is scheduled post-assessment to discuss the results and address strategies to assist the student. An informal handwritten summary is available at the feedback meeting. A formal typed report can be subsequently provided upon request. An additional fee will be required.

Therapy
Counselling is provided for children, teenagers and adults for a range of social, emotional and behavioural concerns. Jane is committed to providing a warm and caring environment, where clients feel comfortable, safe, respected and free to express themselves without judgment. Therapy can be on a one-to-one basis, or with other family members/partners. The initial session usually requires time to gain/clarify background information, which aids in the planning of future sessions. It is also important in determining what the client may want from therapy.
A range of therapies/strategies are utilised, which are evidence-based and tailored to a client's individual situation/needs.

Talking to a Psychologist is an effective way to manage and gain a better understanding of issues in a safe, supportive and non-judgmental environment.
Teleconsults
Telehealth (video conferencing) and Telephone Consults are also available to ensure clients are able to access Psychological Services, even if unable to attend at an office. These alternative means of accessing a Psychological consultation have been invaluable during COVID-19 pandemic times. They are also useful if a client is prohibited from attending an office (e.g. live in a remote area, are sick, work commitments). Telehealth is offered via a secure, encrypted platform, ensuring the consult is safe and confidential.

Rates, Payments and Rebates
The current fee is $170/hour. Telehealth Services and Telephone Consults are also available for $160/hour. Payment is required on the day for the consultation. Payment may be made by cash, bank transfer, or with a card (1.9% surcharge is applied). A referral is not required to make an appointment, however if you wish to claim a rebate through Medicare, you will require a GP referral. Your GP can formulate a Mental Health Care Plan, under the ‘Better Access to Mental Health Care’ initiative. This provides a Medicare rebate for up to 10 counselling sessions per calendar year. Referrals from Paediatricians and Psychiatrists operate in the same way as a Mental Health Care Plan.
If you're not eligible for a Medicare rebate, or choose not to get a Mental Health Care Plan, you may be able to gain a rebate through your Private Health Insurance, depending on your cover.
Cancellation Policy
A fee is charged for cancellations of less than 24 hours notice. At least 48 hours notice is required for a cancellation/reschedule, to allow sufficient time to gain a replacement appointment.
